Senior Accountant

JOB DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Project Controller, this position is responsible for maintaining the accounting records including general ledger as well as internal controls in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. This position is also responsible for overseeing the junior accounting staff, maintenance of accounting work papers and preparation of the monthly financial statements. In addition this position assists the Project Controller in the preparation of yearly audited financial statement, Board of Director and Audit Committee presentations as well as other special projects. Specific responsibilities include:
Manage the monthly invoice requisition, constituent funding requests and vendor payment process
Maintenance of general ledger accounts
Prepare monthly financial statements
Prepare reconciliation of intra-company accounts with constituent organizations
Maintain accounting work paper analysis for quarterly review by the Project Controller
Prepare account analysis work papers for annual audit.
Maintain project budget
Prepare project cash flow projections
Prepare and file annual 1099 documents and information tax return
Work in conjunction with accounting consultant in preparation and filing of 990 Tax Return
Monitor compliance with established accounting policies and procedures
Oversee and manage the activities of the junior accountants (invoice coding , cost allocations)
Assist Project Controller in preparation of presentations for the Board of Directors, Audit Committee and CFOs of the various constituent organizations
Assist Project Controller in other special projects as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, public accounting experience helpful but not required
5+ years experience in accounting and budgeting, preferably as project accountant at a construction company or construction management company
Proven ability to multitask in a fast paced environment and the ability to adapt rapidly to changing demands.
Advance Excel skills, proficiency in Word.
Experience with Timberline, Prologue or similar project management software packages
